Hp 6910p Battery

From Ubuntu 11.04 and onward there is no need for a driver to use the builtin 3G (WWAN) modem in the HP Compaq 6910p laptop computer. But by default the modem is soft.

The Intel Graphic Media Accelerator X3100 in the 6910P needs a very recent version of Xorg to work properly. Currently Ubuntu 7.10, OpenSuSE 10.3 and Mandriva Linux 2008 support this controller properly. If your distribution of choice uses an older version of Xorg you will need to upgrade it.

The Intel 4965AGN wireless controller in the 6910P requires the driver to work. This driver may be difficult to install depending on the kernel and distribution combination you are using. Currently Ubuntu 7.10, Mandriva Linux 2008 and OpenSuSE 10.3 support the 4965AGN as standard but you can view the guide below for a more up to date list of distributions which support this controller as well as installation instructions for distributions which don't support it fully.

Other models of the 6910P have the ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphics controller. This has been reported to work with ATI's proprietary fglrx module. See the guide below for installation details. You will need at least kernel 2.6.22 for the audio in the 6910P to work. If you want to use a older kernel then you will have to install at least version 1.0.15rc3 of the drivers.

I had several problems while setting up a set of different Linux system a there were Fedora, Suse9, CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian as well. Blank screen, interrupt errors. Suse9 SP 4 was the only system that work. Hi, recently installed Linux Mint 17 on my Hp 6910p. Made iso disc and installed on my hard drive. But when I reboot it doesn,t boot from hard drive. Tried boot repair disc but didn't help either.

This a new hard drive and the os is on it but bios won t recognize it. When I tried to install windows 7 on it it wanted a disc with additional drivers. Will Linux unlock my hard drive? Any one else ever had this problem? I ve changed sata native mode and tried many different things but can't seem to get it, can anyone help me? Since 2010 I use two 6910p, T7300 processor, first under Ubuntu 10.10 x64, and now with Linuxmint17 & LMDE 14 x64.

No problem, except the hanging. BUT remains a serious security problem with motherboards equipped with Intel GM965 chipset. This chipset manages the Intel AMT functionnality (take a look @ your BIOS).

This chipset allows a network admin to connect to this chipset even if the computer is powered off, and gives him access to everything on the system. Since Ubuntu 12.04 (and then Linuxmint 13), the Linux kernel contains a MEI module enabling this function. Advice: look at page:.

I blacklisted mei module. Th network admin is not a problem, but uclear persons could be one.

Hard cyphering the hard disk (Truecrypt) seems to me the only solution to this problem. I'm running Fedora 11 on my 6910p, but the issue that I'm having was already present on openSUSE 11.0 and 11.1. To make it short: the fan isn't stopping at any time. I've google a lot and it seems like an issue that a lot of people are having with this notebook. It's not a linux specific issue either as it seems.

There are some solutions within the BIOS, but they didn't work out for me. Backburner Autodesk Troubleshooting. Serial Box For Mac there. I'm getting really tired of the constantly running fan here.

It's getting on my nerves. Since it's a company notebook I could change it to something else, but all the other notebooks are coming with significantly less performance so I'd rather find a solution for this one. Some additional info I run Linux on this box for more than a year now. In the beginning there were the mentioned problems that very recent drivers were needed, so i ran debian sid with self compiled wifi drivers from driver-project website.

I dont remember any problems, but i didn't use suspend. Kernel was 2.6.22 without support for wifi-led, audio switches and sd-reader. In april 08 i made a parallel install of xubuntu hardy and suspend worked out of the box! Some weeks later 2.6.25 was in sid and that kernel was the first with support for the sd-reader.

Some additional weeks later with debian kernel 2.6.26 the wifi-led started blinking, but i get a freeze in the bios post, everytime i reboot.:( Same behavior with ubuntu kernel 2.6.27 in intrepid. In the moment i run xubuntu intrepid (sid and hardy still installed parallel) and everything works quite fine out of the box, except for the reboot problem. Luckily my eth survived the 2.6.27RCs;) I didn't test: firewire, bluetooth, fprintreader, modem, d-sub, dockingstation but can add: expresscard slot works fine (i use a cf-reader in it), batterystate monitoring for additional battery depends on the tool you use. Some get it, some not. The “button” or hardware key to turn off/on the wireless is the actual little blue light-up wireless icon - located at the top of your keyboard on the left side. If you tap it twice?
